The phrase “Dog Days of Summer” comes from the Romans who were tracking the rise of the star Sirius at dawn. It was also the hottest portion of summer and seemingly most unbearable. History lesson aside, there is an ironic silver lining. Sirius is the brightest star besides the Sun in our solar system. Sirius is there at our hottest moments shining bright and leading the way throughout the day.
This star represents the entrepreneurs in our communities who are grinding and growing everyday despite the conditions. In addition to preparing for the fall, school starting, ending of vacation season and the pending white fluffiness, these pillars of the community are adding new ideas to their business. Here is an example of a local company following the lead of Sirius and shining bright during the dog days.
Berries Brothers Coffee Roasters is a veteran and family owned coffee roasting company in Watertown, WI Pete and his family continue to grind our new ideas and flavors. They debuted new flavors such as Rind and Grind, Salted Caramel Brownie and Chocolate Cherry Bomb. They also hosted their first tasting event in the beanery which paired sweet treats with new flavors and highlighted a few chilled beverages perfect for besting the dog days of summer. You can pick up Berres Brothers at most grocery stores or swing by the home base in Watertown to shop their extensive selections of coffee, tumblers and crafts all supporting local businesses.
August may be hot and mark the end of summer. But why not follow Sirius and shine bright this month. Look for your Husky Homes partners out in the community leading the pack.
