Jena was referred to me from her ex-boyfriend who was our family car salesmen. She had been on a couple showings with a Realtor who was not making herself available to help Jena with showings and not communicating. As a first time Homebuyer, Jena felt really under prepared and really was unsure if she would have the ability to buy in this market. She needed direction and guidance, so she reached out to me, and we had a long talk about her goals and where she was at in the process. We hopped to showings right away and wrote on a few houses within the first week. We were at a very competitive price point, so even with very strong offers, we missed out on a couple, but with patience and persistence, we found the perfect place for her and her 2 daughters.
And the coolest thing about it is that we were able to get the Seller's to agree to update the knob and tube wiring in the house and utilizing a down payment assistance program and a few grants, she had no upfront costs. She was able to take the money that she was prepared to put down and invest that back into the home. They are doing brand new flooring throughout, a new garage roof, and a kitchen renovation and will be able to built in so much equity for when they sell or rent out the home one day.
I think a lot of people here stuff in the news, or see the prices of homes, and assume that they will not be able to buy. But working with the right Lender and Realtor who will advocate for you and do everything they can to get you the keys to your very first home, can make all the difference.
