Decluttering is not just about clearing your home of clutter. For many of us, decluttering can have a positive impact on mental health. A recent survey of homeowners showed that 44% of us experience ‘mess-stress’.
- Block out the time you need on your calendar.
- Clear off all flat surfaces- and keep them clean.
- Ask yourself what items you actually need- and ditch the rest.
- Tackle one space at a time.
- Make sure everything you own has a "home".
- Be smart with storage.
- Keep a donation basket handy for unwanted items or clothes.
- Do a 10 minute clean up every night.
- Keep dishes out of the sink and run the dishwasher every night.
- Limit what you bring into the house.
Remember minimizing, maximizes the size of your home and makes it feel bigger!
