Moms - Have you been looking around your house thinking "we are SO out of room here," but dread even the thought of moving with kids? Don't stress! I've got the moving tips to keep you sane in the mom brain.
1. Hire movers if you can. It's going to make moving day less stressful especially with kiddos running around. Chasing kids around loading up the truck? That is chaotic. I have GREAT local movers I can recommend!
2. Pre-pack before you list. You want your house and your closets to be about 15% empty before you list your property. Getting the pre-work done makes the final packing SO much easier!
3. Color code your moving boxes by room. Seriously, this one is a GAMECHANGER! Primary bedroom: blue! Kid's bedroom: pink! Kitchen: green! Get the biggest permanent markers in a rainbow of colors to get it done!
4. KEEP your clothes on hangers, wrap them up in a garbage bag, tie & go to keep them clean for the move! Use your suitcases and luggage for heavier items. Just like a BIG vacation, right?
5. Before packing up each room, take a photo. This lets you take inventory of what's in that room & how you like the room set up. AND take a photo of the back of the TV - trust me, you'll thank me later!
6. Pack up a first-week box of essentials for the new home - things like toiletries, a couple of outfits, paper products, and cleaning supplies! When you order that first night pizza, you won't have to open every box to find the plates & napkins!
