Neighborhood Spotlight: Nordic Hills, Mount Horeb

I have to say, I have a special fondness for this neighborhood—it's where I live! We purchased our home in November 2023 and absolutely love the location, neighborhood, and its charming appeal. Our cozy ranch house captivated us with its close proximity to Stuart Lake County Park and its spacious backyard.

Here are three reasons why I would recommend buying a home in the Nordic Hills Neighborhood:

    1. What attracted us to the neighborhood were the spacious lot sizes and the unique, charming houses. No cookie cutter subdivision here! You’ll find ranch homes, two story homes, custom built homes and even a few cape cod and colonials sprinkled in. A distinctive aspect of the subdivision is its single-entry point, which unexpectedly provided us with a sense of security we hadn't realized we valued. Nordic Ridge doesn't have a homeowner’s association, giving residents the freedom to personalize their homes as they wish. Plus, there are no HOA fees to worry about!
    2. Stuart Lake County Park is a scenic recreational area that is accessible from the neighborhood (we can walk to the end of our street to access!) It offers a variety of outdoor activities and natural beauty. We enjoy taking family walks with our puppy and exploring the different trails and sights. The park is known for its picturesque setting, with lush greenery, serene lake views, and wildlife. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as hiking, picnicking, bird watching, and fishing—all at no cost!
    3. As of December 2024, Nordic Hills in Mount Horeb, WI, has 7 homes for sale, priced between $89,900 and $975,000. The broader Mount Horeb market shows notable activity: November's median home price was $440,000, up 8% from last year. Homes sold in an average of 91 days, compared to 81 days previously. In October 2024, 9 homes were sold, up from 4 in October 2023, reflecting increased buyer interest.

During our first week after moving in, neighbors warmly welcomed us with treats and baked goods. The community frequently hosts block parties, driveway conversations, and dog gatherings, fostering a genuine sense of camaraderie and care among residents. Mount Horeb is a wonderful place to call home, and you'll be especially fortunate if you find yourself in the Nordic Hills neighborhood!
