Spring Fun in Dane County

The snow has melted (for now) and it is feeling like it is officially Spring in Dane County! Spring in the greater Madison area is all about fresh air, local flavors and foods, and vibrant events. Madison really shines once the ice thaws from the lakes, and I know I speak for many when I say that I am thrilled for this new season. Whether you're a longtime resident or considering a move, here are some of my favorite ways to enjoy this season!

Shop the Farmers’ Markets – The Dane County Farmers’ Market returns to Capitol Square in April, offering fresh produce, flowers, cheese curds, and local treats. Most of the surrounding communities in Dane County also offer their own smaller version of a Farmer’s Market – so be sure to also check out Stoughton, Mount Horeb, Monona, Fitchburg, etc. Hot Tip: Show up before 8AM to enjoy the vendors without the crowds!

Hit the Trails – Hike Pheasant Branch Conservancy, bike the Capital City State Trail, or take in the views at Devil’s Lake. If you’re on the Capital City State Trail, be sure to plan for a pit stop at the Bait Shop in Monona for ice cream and lake views!

Visit Olbrich Botanical Gardens – Stroll through colorful tulips, magnolias, and spring blooms. I love bringing the kids here to enjoy the beautiful greenery, run around, and to point out new insects!

Drink Outdoors with your Dogs– Madison is the absolute best during outdoor patio season if you’re a dog lover! Spots like the Boneyard, Wisconsin Brewing Company/Lake Louie Brewing Co, and Karben4 all have phenomenal outdoor patios where you can enjoy a cold beer with your dog.

Spring is the season of fresh starts—if you’re thinking about a move, let’s connect! With Compass tools and my local expertise, I can help you find the perfect home.
