If education is the silver bullet to level the playing fields, fundraising is the grip to ensure a true shot. Community financial investment has grabbed headlines of late under the guise of Name Image and Likeness (NIL) or collectives at major institutions of higher education. On a local level, there is still a need to raise funds for scholarships, experiential learning and to fund one off classroom activities. The Johnson Creek Education Foundation (JCEF) was founded in 1998 with an explicit goal of supporting and enriching the educational opportunities available to Johnson Creek Students. I have served on the board since January, 2024 and am blown away by the impact the foundation has on the school and therefore, community. We have an upcoming fundraiser on Sunday March 10 from 8-12pm at Johnson Creek High School. It is hosted in the Weis Center at 455 Aztalan Street, Johnson Creek. Bring your hard earned Hamilton's ($10) or Lincoln's ($5 for 10 and under) for an all you care to eat experience. Pancakes, breakfast potatoes, eggs and assorted beverages will keep you filled with joy. Berres Brothers Coffee is sure to give you your daily jolt of Java and sausages from Pernat's Premium Meats will leave everyone satisfied. This event will also feature raffle prizes, a prize board and the opportunity to see the first domed schools in Wisconsin.
The JCEF works year round to raise funds for students and the school district. If you are interested in supporting a scholarship fund or a specific initiative, please visit the website linked below or reach out to President Jeff Constable via email at jcef06@gmail.com.
